Kindred Ground is a place where everyone is welcome. The Barn at Kindred Ground is a place to celebrate the special moments of life. The Farmhouse is a place to rest and rejuvenate while enjoying the beautiful Genesee Valley.
Situated in the town of Avon, between Rochester and the Finger Lakes, you’ll have easy access to many attractions, colleges, businesses, and day-trip destinations. Located close to the Located close to Route 390, and just 30-minutes from the Greater Rochester International Airport, Kindred Ground is easy to find.
2002 - Tammy and her husband Jim celebrate their wedding reception in the 19th-century barn on the grounds. The Barn is a beautiful and unique setting that they both love. But — being a farming family — shortly after their wedding the barn is once again full of hay and other farm equipment.
2008 - Kindred Ground is founded as a CSA Garden (Community Supported Agriculture). Tammy is growing an array of organic vegetables and selling shares in her garden. Shareholders are welcome to help care for the crops throughout the growing season. During harvest, each shareholder receives a portion of the yield.
2012 - Tammy begins the process of upgrading the barn to an event venue. For the next year, she works to convert the barn from farm use to festive use.
2013 - The first couple (after Tammy and Jim) is married in The Barn.
2015 - Tammy ends the CSA to shift her focus to further renovate the barn. It is an intense labor of love that is worth every effort.
2018 - Tammy and Jim purchase the neighboring property, turning the gorgeous 1852 home into an Airbnb. The Farmhouse can be booked on Airbnb, where Tammy earned “Super Host” status.
2019 - The dream hits a speed bump, Tammy is diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She continues to host events at The Barn and guests at The Farmhouse.
2020 - Tammy’s diagnosis takes a turn for the worse in early 2020 and we bid farewell to our beloved Tammy in July.
2021 - Tammy’s family and friends want to see her dream live on. After some time off, Kindred Ground is once again welcoming guests to The Barn and The Farmhouse.
We invite you to visit us and experience Kindred Ground for yourself. Stroll through the wonderfully scented herb and flower gardens. Walk the lane to the grapevine-covered corn crib. Enjoy The Barn balcony overlooking the courtyard. Watch the sunset across the valley from the porch of The Farmhouse. Look out across the acres of wheat and cornfields. Reconnect with one another and the land.
